Generosity works when
everyone feels respected.
OpenFDE means open, forward-deployed help: people sitting alongside people to make AI useful. These shared boundaries make that possible.
What belongs here
- Learning to use an AI tool for a personal, everyday task.
- AI literacy, language practice, and accessible information.
- Small public-interest AI experiments and freely shared learning resources.
- A specific question or a small project with a realistic time limit.
What we turn away
- Sales, marketing, lead generation, or business automation.
- Client deliverables, startup MVPs, and proprietary products.
- Unpaid roles, recurring operations, or open-ended commitments.
- Requests with no meaningful AI component, even when well intended.
Before, during, and after you connect
Before: a clear, small invitation
Say who benefits, why AI is involved, and what one useful result would look like. Choose a time limit. Use public or fictional examples, and leave out passwords, identity documents, and sensitive personal details.
Together: mutual choice
A volunteer offers a specific kind of help. The requester accepts or declines. Only then does private messaging open. Agree scope and a next step in writing before doing work. Either person can stop.
After: leave something useful
Record the outcome, a prompt or learning resource, and a next step the requester can do independently. Mark the connection complete. Any more help needs a fresh agreement.
Always: people before tools
Ask consent, check AI outputs, and keep personal data private. AI can make mistakes. Do not rely on it for emergency, medical, legal, or financial decisions. No pressure, solicitation, or guarantees.
